Reiki
What Is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient energy healing technique which was discovered by Mikao Usui in Japan in the 1920’s. He spent time healing people in Japan and passed his knowledge and techniques onto Dr Chujiro Hayashi. Hayashi then opened his clinic and school called Hayashi Spiritual Energy Research Society.
It was here a young woman named Hawayo Takata who came to be healed and was so enthralled with the treatment she received that she wished to be taught Reiki. After being taught the first and second levels of Reiki, Takata wanted to pass this healing technique on to others. This was the beginning of Reki spreading to the Western world.
Reiki (pronounced Ray Kee) is often translated as ‘universal life-force energy’ or ‘spiritual or sacred energy’.
Rei refers to the ‘wisdom of the universe’ and Ki refers to the life-force energy that flows through every living thing.
These are the principles we are encouraged to live by each and every day.

Reiki treatment is the guiding of energy through the body and meridians using hand movements on or above the body reducing stress and promoting healing. It is non-invasive improving the flow and balance of energy in the body to support healing. Reiki is a link between the emotional and physical body. A state of relaxation is reached which contributes to the healing process.
